Darlene Trujillo Elliot, Communications Director

Darlene Trujillo-Elliot serves as Communications Director and Senior Legislative Assistant for Riverside County Supervisor Jose Medina. In this role, she oversees all communications efforts, including media relations, social media, website management, press outreach, newsletters, and Board presentations. She also manages policy areas related to arts and entertainment and serves as the primary liaison for the Clerk of the Board, Emergency Management, Information Technology, RivCoTV, the Office of Service Integration, Purchasing and Fleet Services, and Waste Resources. Darlene represents the First District within the City of Riverside and leads efforts on Tribal Affairs throughout the district.
With over 30 years of experience in public service and community engagement, Darlene has been a dedicated leader in Riverside. She previously worked as a Mayor’s Assistant for the City of Riverside and a Senior Administrative Analyst for Riverside Public Utilities. Her background includes serving on numerous nonprofit boards, mentoring students, and leading initiatives to support arts, education, and cultural preservation. She co-founded the Spanish Town Heritage Foundation, developing curriculum on the region’s first Hispanic settlers, and launched programs focused on early literacy and arts accessibility for underserved communities. Darlene holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University and has been recognized with multiple awards for her contributions to the community.
