We would like to inform you that funding for the Fiscal Year 2024/2025 CID Grant has been fully exhausted. We recognize the importance of these funds to the community and sincerely apologize to those who were unable to apply or receive funding during this cycle.

The application period will reopen on July 1, 2025 for the next fiscal year. We encourage organizations to apply early once the new cycle begins.

The CID Grant program is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Riverside County through support for educational and recreational initiatives, arts and culture, environmental efforts, economic development, and other community-driven projects. We are committed to continuing this work and welcome feedback on how these funds have impacted your organization and community.

The Community Improvement Designations aim to enhance the Riverside community by improving the living conditions for current residents and stimulating new growth. This is achieved through various means such as educational and recreational projects, arts and cultural programs, environmental awareness initiatives, economic development endeavors, and other projects that contribute to the community's welfare and elevate the quality of life in the region. Any public or private community group or non-profit organization operating within or serving the County of Riverside is eligible to seek CID funding.

Before You Apply: Community Improvement Designation (CID) Grant Guidelines

Please carefully review the following requirements before submitting your CID application. These guidelines are designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with the mission of Riverside County’s First District.

  • Public Record Notice: All CID applications are public records and may be subject to disclosure under the California Public Records Act.

  • Individual Review: Each application is evaluated individually on its own merit. Submission does not guarantee approval.

  • District 1 Focus: Priority is given to projects and organizations that serve and benefit residents within Riverside County’s First District.

  • Processing Timeline: Funds are not disbursed immediately. Please allow up to 8 weeks from the date of application for review and processing.

  • One-Time Awards: A CID grant does not imply automatic renewal or future-year funding.

  • Use of Funds: Funds must be used strictly as outlined in the approved application. The County may request documentation to verify proper use.

  • Election-Year Restrictions: No CID funds will be awarded or publicly announced within 60 days prior to an election if the Supervisor is on the ballot.

  • Final Reporting Requirement: All recipients must submit a final report and itemized accounting within 60 days of spending the funds.

  • Ongoing Reporting for Larger Awards: For grants over $5,000 that are not fully spent within the fiscal year, annual progress reports are required until the award is fully used.

  • Return of Unused Funds: Any funds that are unspent or not properly documented must be returned to the County in accordance with the signed agreement.

  • Photo Requirement: All recipients must submit high-resolution photographs of the funded event or project—or informational images about the organization—for potential use on official District 1 social media and public communications.

  • Nonprofit Compliance Requirement: Applicants must be in good standing with both the California Secretary of State and the IRS. Proof of current nonprofit status and state compliance is required at the time of application.
