Honoring Aydin Mallery — 2025 District 1 Volunteer of the Year

Supervisor Jose Medina proudly recognized Aydin Mallery as the 2025 District 1 Volunteer of the Year during the Riverside County Board of Supervisors meeting this week.

Earlier this year, our office launched a call for nominations, reaching out via email and social media to invite the community to submit outstanding individuals for consideration. We were honored to receive a wide range of nominations from across the First District, highlighting the incredible spirit of service that exists in our region. Among many deserving nominees, Aydin Mallery stood out — receiving multiple nominations for his tireless commitment to justice, equity, and community empowerment.

Aydin has shown an unwavering dedication to uplifting local voices, providing pro bono legal assistance, and preserving historic sites like the Harada House. His leadership and service remind us of the transformative power of civic engagement.

“Aydin’s work reflects the best of District 1. His passion for justice, service, and community empowerment inspires us all. It is an honor to recognize him for his outstanding contributions,” said Supervisor Medina.

We are also proud to give honorable mention to several outstanding finalists who were nominated for their incredible work:

  • Karen Hall (Riverside) – Advocate through nonprofit, labor union, and educational sectors.
  • Paz Trivino (Perris) – Community member dedicated to local service efforts.
  • Sarah Davari (Riverside) – Overdose prevention educator, healthcare mentor, and volunteer with homeless outreach programs.
  • Stan Morrison (Riverside) – Longtime nonprofit board leader supporting youth, animal welfare, and family services.
  • Kione Gonzales (Riverside) – Board President of Family Promise of Riverside, serving families experiencing homelessness.
  • Nathan Iverson (Riverside) – Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters and leadership volunteer in youth development programs.
