Community Swearing-In Ceremony at The Cheech: A Celebration of Leadership and Unity
The Community Swearing-In Ceremony for Supervisor Jose Medina was a remarkable gathering held at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, drawing a crowd of over 250 attendees from across Riverside County. The ceremony began with an inspiring performance by a Mariachi band, setting a celebratory tone for the evening. Alfredo Figueroa, serving as the emcee, skillfully guided the program, ensuring a seamless flow of heartfelt speeches and powerful reflections.
A special moment of the evening featured Felix Lee (7th grade) and Amelia-Bea Lee (5th grade), who represented the future of the community, reminding attendees of the importance of paving the way for the next generation.
Honoring Riverside’s diverse cultural and spiritual heritage, Geneva Mojado, Vice Chair of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, delivered a meaningful welcome, recognizing the land and Indigenous presence. Rabbi Suzanne Singer, Pastor Rev. Monrow Mabon, Esq., and Dr. Khaled Bahjri provided blessings and reflections, emphasizing unity, faith, and community well-being.
