Cajalco Road Widening Safety Enhancement Project:
The County of Riverside Transportation Department, in cooperation with California
Department of Transportation (Caltrans), is proposing to widen and realign approximately
15.7 miles of Cajalco Road between Temescal Canyon Road to the west and Interstate
215 (I-215) to the east. The project would widen the roadway to four lanes between Harvill
Avenue and Temescal Canyon Road, and to six lanes between the I-215 southbound
ramps and Harvill Avenue. The Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact
Statement (EIR/EIS) was released in December 2021 for a 90-day public comment period
and a virtual public hearing was held in January 2022. Following the consideration of
input and comments received from the public, participating agencies, and
environmental stakeholder groups, and review of project alternatives, Build Alternative 1
was identified as the Project's preferred alternative.
